Happy New Year everyone!
I’ve never really been one to make New Years resolutions (or maybe it’s just that I’ve never really adhered to them...)
But I decided to make just one for 2019 and one that I think I’m able to actually work with.
It’s simply to be happy.
Being happy comes in so many different forms for all of us. It might be planning a holiday or climbing the career ladder. But sometimes it’s easy to forget the little pieces of happiness around us everyday. Here are the things I’m going to practice to protect my happiness in 2019
1. PROTECT YOUR ENERGY
This means sometimes it is okay to change your mind. It’s even okay to not answer that call or want to spend time alone. We can let go and we can cancel a commitment in diary. There are things I’m learning along the way, such as trying to respond as opposed to react when faced with what I feel is a negative situation.
2.CLEAR THE CLUTTER
So this doesn’t just relate to the items stuffed in the back of your wardrobe that you haven’t worn for 18 months. But it’s not just physical clutter, it’s old ideas, friendships or relationships and bad habits. This is the clutter that doesn’t support your peace and in turn, doesn’t support your happiness.
3. SAY YES TO SOMETHING NEW
Around this time last year, I began attending hot yoga classes and honestly it was one of the best decisions I ever made not only for my body but for my mind.
Say yes to a new album, new food or a new potential friend. By taking yourself out of your comfort zone, you discover new, beautiful things that are there within your reach everyday. Saying yes to new experiences can help you shed an old habit that isn’t serving you anymore.
My hot yoga class is based on wolverhmapton and if you want to find out what classes are available you can by clicking here
4. MAKE SOMEONE ELSE HAPPY
When you see somebody else having a not so great day, offer to help them and give them a smile so they feel a little calmer.
Maybe giving them a hug will help or even just leaving them a little post it note to let them know you’re thinking about them.
Making other people happy and seeing them smile will bring happiness to us.
Showing gratitude and appreciation always redirects me to a positive mindset.
5. CREATE THE DAY YOU WANT
Stop waiting for a good day to happen and make it yourself. It could be as simple as running yourself a bath, lighting candles and taking a book to read whilst you soak. Lush Sleepy range does wonders for a disturbed sleep pattern... oatmeal and lavender blend is an absolute dream!
When it’s raining outside, I love putting on my favourite film or taking one of my books and getting cosy under a blanket.
They might be obvious things but do whatever it is that keeps you smiling.
“Thousands of candles can be lit from a single candle, and the life of the candle will not be shortened. Happiness never decreases by being shared.” – Buddha
I hope you all have a happy 2019 filled with love and light
XO
