Date Night at Bodega

Happy Humday guys!

Incase you didn’t already know, I’m a total foodie and love discovering new places to eat. I was thrilled when Bodega invited me to stop by for some food and try out their new menu!

Bodega is a contemporary cantina bringing fresh, homemade South American inspired cuisine to Birmingham city centre, Worcester, Leicester and Sutton Coldfield. I had the pleasure of visiting their Sutton Coldfield restaurant recently which was adorned with piñatas, colourful decor and welcoming staff.

One of my absolute favourite foods you could ever serve up for me has to be nachos. And yes, I hear you saying it’s a glorified crisp, but none the less they are a firm fave. There’s nothing worse than a bag of Doritos sprinkled with semi-warm grated cheese and a watery salsa. The house nachos I ordered did not disappoint and were home made from flour tortilla and topped with mozzarella and cheddar cheese, sour cream, guacamole, salsa and jalapeños. They were the biggest nachos I’ve ever had, each nacho was the same size as my hand! The toppings tasted fresh and full of flavour.

Bodega’s cocktail menu is fabulous and they have heaps to choose from including gin and rum cocktails, aswell as mocktail versions. We opted for two passionfruit caiprinhas which are muddled with lime and sugar. So refreshing and not too heavy with our food.

I was eagerly anticipating my main course arriving because the starter had been so delicious. It didn’t disappoint..
My favourite Mexican dish has to be a burrito. Yes it’s messy and yes I normally end up making a mess but it’s so worth it. The oven roasted peppers and avocado burrito consisted of a large flour tortilla filled with white rice, black beans, spiced onions, sweetcorn, coriander & cheddar cheese. Salsa fresca was served on the side and I opted for chipotle mayo, along with some sweet potato fries.

The portion sizes are seriously generous and we definitely over-ordered. My girlfriend opted for Brazilian Moqueca which contains prawns, white fish, leeks, tomatoes and coriander housed in a chimichurri and coconut milk sauce, served with homemade potato wedges. Her favourite dishes often include seafood and she definitely was impressed with how tasty the food was.

Her food option was actually gluten free and they also have vegan and vegetarian options. It’s great to see a good establishment catering for everyone.

Our tummies were so full from our starters and main, we simply had no room for dessert but we hope to return soon to indulge in dessert from the menu.

Overall, the staff were very attentive, the food was delicious and the atmosphere was wonderful. We can’t wait to return to Bodega very soon!

*please note this post contains a gifted meal and drinks from Bodega and all views are my own*
