Is a staycation the new vacation?
“It’s refreshing to just pause and appreciate everything that’s around you”.
So many of us have had to cancel holidays this year, which is why the staycation is my choice of vacay this year. You can take your furry friends with you, save money and you’re supporting the U.K. economy.
Don’t get me wrong, I love nothing more than exploring a new corner of the globe. But sometimes you can open your backdoor and discover something pretty special. (Plus, I’m all about only having to pack hand luggage!)
Piglet Cottage, The Cotswolds
I came across this total little gem on air bnb. It’s located on the north edge of the Cotswolds and is a stones throw from many beautiful places.
A quaint country cottage is definitely a bit o me! It’s easy to walk, eat and photograph your way around the Cotswolds. And we did just that over the space of four days.
Cotswold Lavender, Hill Barn Farm
Okay, strolling through a field of lavender is something to tick off the summer to-do list, am I right?
This family run business welcomes tourists from all over to explore their fields every year. There are around 40 varieties of lavender to discover.
Seeing the bumble bees happily buzzing through the fields and smelling the sweet smell of lavender is more than enough to put a smile on your face.
And if that’s not enough, the lavender ice cream DEFINITELY will be! The delicate floral taste even convinced me to purchase some culinary lavender from them. Cupcakes pending!
Lower Slaughter
Is this the prettiest village in Britain?
I’d say it is for sure. I’ve never strolled down a British street and gasped so many times.
It’s one long street oozing with charm, stone cottages and a gently flowing stream. What’s not to like?
Everywhere you turn, another tourist is snapping a picture. I can’t say I blame them.
Bourton-on-the-Water
Another lovely little spot to visit full of country pubs, quirky shops and tea rooms. The water is my favourite to paddle in on a hot day!
Fun story, right before the phone box pic a gust of wind blew my dress up and exposed my Wednesday knickers to the passers by.
So that’s it. My little round up of Cotswolds dreaminess. I’m ready for my thatched cottage now, thanks!
