Taking care of your skin’s individual needs and adapting your routine to suit your skin type is so important. When I was younger, I’d opt for whatever product packaging I was drawn to instead of what my skin needed. Just as the seasons change, so can our skin. As the temperatures plummet, I always seem to require more of a moisture boost than normal.
Adaptology helps you understand what your skin needs, whether you have dry, ageing, sensitive or blemish prone skin. But what is the niche of the brand, I hear the skincare junkies shout! Why does Adaptology stand out amongst the crowd?
In order to meet all needs, Adaptology have curated several organic skincare ranges. Each range is specifically created to cater to your skin concern and uses adaptogens found in certain plants, which help them adapt to the environment in which they grow. Finally science stuff which I can totally get on board with.
I was kindly forwarded the Adaptology Dry Spell range consisting of a cleanser, toner, moisturiser and oil serum. The products in this range are suited to drier skin and provide intense nourishment, coupled with clever skin-barrier therapy to leave skin feeling soothed, revitalised and deeply hydrated.
Why Adaptology?
The skincare market is saturated with brands making bold promises, but so many of them don’t live up to the expectation. I’ll always gravitate to brands that are cruelty free and vegan, alongside being plastic negative. Adaptology tick all of those sustainable boxes and then some.
I’ve been using the range now for several weeks because I wanted to ensure I’m giving an honest insight. I also wanted to monitor any changes to my skin. Drinking plenty of water, 7-8 hours sleep and a regular skincare routine are all part of my day to day, but sometimes my skin can still feel dehydrated. When it’s desperate for moisture it can feel sensitive too.
Dry Spell Regime
My go to second cleanse is always a cleansing balm or oil. The dry spell cleanser melts away my makeup with ease but never leaves my skin feeling lack lustre. An oil based facial balm works to really support dry skin texture, I don’t think I could use anything else to remove makeup as it strips skin of any moisture I do have. Arctic Sea Buckthorn helps improve elasticity and reduce redness, while papaya enzymes gently exfoliate. They’ve got it right for us dry skin warriors.

A toner is only something I’ve incorporated into my routine in the last few years and I’d never go back. I complete the toner step after cleansing using the dry spell toner. After cleansing, we need to lock in that moisture again and toners work to get skin back into balance. The mist toner is so soothing to spritz over skin and contains resurrection plant to aid cell metabolism. I spritz over my skin then use a reusable cotton pad to remove any excess.
Every morning and evening without fail I’ve been using the dry spell moisturiser, the absolute double dose for dry skin. This moisturiser has a thick, creamy texture which is my preference for a good moisturiser. I much prefer a thick cream to a gel or lotion consistency. It begins with skin barrier therapy so that hydration will be retained. Hyaluronic acid combined with a mix of ceramides and adaptogens, all within a rich, creamy texture feels like heaven on my skin. No roughness, no greasiness, only soothed and strengthened skin.
Before bed I like to ensure my skin is getting a real hydration injection, so I add a couple of drops of dry spell oil serum into my moisturiser to give skin a real hit during sleep hours. The botanicals in the oils come in the form of CBD to allow skin to relax and High Altitude Rosehip Oil promote cellular renewal. I actually look forward to the application of this oil before bed, when I wake up my skin is at it’s softest. It also works like a dream when paired with a gua sha massage tool or facial roller.
I’m so impressed by the ethos of Adaptology and how they’re helping to repair the impact modern life has on our skin.
