Relieving dry, Winter skin isn’t just about downing a litre of water or heading to the salon for a £125 facial. Sure those things can have their benefits (I’m always striving to improve my water intake by the way!) but so can incorporating the right hydrators into your skincare routine throughout the colder months.
During the last three weeks, I’ve switched out a couple of key products from my skincare regime to see how they can help my dry and sometimes, dehydrated skin. Enter The INKEY List Hyaluronic Acid Cleanser and Omega Water Cream. The new additions to their extensive range encourage a healthy skin barrier and boost skin’s hydration. I’m sold.
First up is the Hyaluronic Acid Cleanser, priced at £9.99 for 150ml. It’s an ultra hydrating cleanser, created for use both morning and evening. Suitable for all skin types, this light cleanser doesn’t leave my skin feeling dry or stripped. You know the feeling when skin feels TOO clean and tight, some heavy foaming cleansers give that feel. My personal routine for this cleanser is pretty simple. Just one use in the morning and then in the evening, I use it as my second cleanse, after a balm or oil cleanser. It’s skilled at removing the final remnants of makeup from skin and effectively cleanses, without compromising the integrity of my skin barrier.
Key Ingredients:
1% Hyaluronic Acid Complex – Even after the cleanser is rinsed away, clinically proven to improve hydration levels in skin for up to 48 hours.
1% Inulin Compound (PolyFructol Plus) – An extract from the chicory root plant that’s known for it’s ability to increase hydration levels within the skin. A natural prebiotic, inulin also aids protection of the skin barrier.
2% Betaine – Extracted from sugar beet, it helps to support skin’s hydration levels and protects against environmental stressors and dehydration.
Another new addition to INKEY is the Omega Water Cream, priced at £9.99 for 50ml. The lightweight formula of the cream teamed with the hydration it delivered, really surprised me. I wasn’t expecting such a hydrating cream but with such a light texture. The water- based gel moisturiser is a key addition to your hydrating routine and hydrates skin without creating oiliness. I found it was suitable for morning and evening, particularly teamed with a facial oil at night.
Key Ingredients:
Omega Fatty Acid Complex – Contain Omega 3, 6 and 9 which work to reduce TEWL (trans epidermal water loss!) and keep essential moisture locked in. Also aids skin elasticity and firmness.
5% Niacinamide – Otherwise known as Vitamin B3, it helps to control excess oil, even out skin tone, and reduce redness.
5% Glycerin – A humectant which helps to draw moisture into the skin without clogging pores.
Something else I wanted to share before I sign off is a new top tip I’ve discovered from the geniuses at INKEY. Mixing a pump of Polyglutamic Acid with your foundation is a serious game changer!
I filmed a video at the weekend and wanted my makeup to appear dewy, but with the right amount of coverage. If you have any tips please share them in the comments or let me know on social media! @sophiescribbles
